Hiring a company that provides industrial contracting in Cleveland is no easy feat. You will want to make sure that the whole experience will go as seamlessly as possible meaning that all the contractors will be able to provide services on time and at the agreed-upon price. A contractor who wants your business will be able to say that they can deliver to your expectations, but how do you know whom to trust and who to hire?
Ask Around
If you happen to know anyone else who has had to hire an industrial contracting firm in or around the Cleveland area, ask them about whom they used and how their experience was. Building inspectors are also an excellent resource as they will have worked with or spoken to a number of industrial contractors in the past.
Interview the Company over the Phone
Once you have a list of at least three to five industrial contracting firms, it is time to start the interview process. Ask questions such as:
* Does the firm take on projects of your size?
* Can they provide you with the names and phone numbers of previous clients whom they have completed similar projects for?
* Will they provide you with financial references (these may be from banks, suppliers or both)?
* How many projects do they handle at the same time?
* How long have they been working with their subcontractors?
The responses you receive from the company will give you a clear indication of how reliable they are, whether they will be available, and how much attention they will be devoting to your project. This will give you a sense of how smoothly you can expect the work to go.
Meet Them in Person
If you were satisfied with a contracting company’s responses to your questions, schedule to meet with them face to face for estimates and for further talks about your project. The contractor should be able to answer your questions and leave you feeling reassured about their ability to complete the project successfully.
If at, all possible, take the time to visit a work site where the contracting firm is currently working. You will be able to see first-hand how the contractor works, if the job site is safe, and if the other workers on the property are careful and courteous when on the property.
Do Background Checks
As much as you may like the personality of a contractor, do not let their smile and good demeanor fool you. Check with the Better Business Bureau and your state’s consumer protection agency to find out whether or not the contractor has a history of disputes with both clients and subcontractors prior to hiring.
