The common water heater is one of the most used appliances in the home, yet few people really think much about this modern convenience until it fails. Surprisingly, a Hot Water Heater can fail in a variety of ways. Keep in mind that not all of these problems will require the unit to be replaced. For example, an electric model can quit producing hot water for several reasons, the most typical of which is a shorted heating element. This event usually happens after the element has a little age. Sediment, minerals and other chemicals in the water corrode the heating element while the constant change in temperature breaks it down. The solution is simple, replace the damaged element. Once the replacement is obtained, the repair should take about an hour.

Another common problem with an aging Hot Water Heater is corrosion. This can occur around seams or along the bottom of a gas fueled model. At this point, the only real choice is to replace the old unit with a new one. However, it is important to think about which replacement to purchase. Look for a water heater that is designed to last. For example, find a hot water tank that uses a liner for protection. This method of corrosion protection currently comes as either a glass liner or one made from cement. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. Glass is often more cost effective because it is easier to apply, but glass may not always seal around fittings which could cause a problem. Cement tends to be costlier, but this interior coating provides a durable cover that is applied in a liquid state. This allows the cement to properly cover all the internal areas.

Of course, a tank based storage system isn’t the only way to heat water. One option is the boiler, and another is the in-line or flash water heater. The latter option can be found in two types. The first version is used to treat a whole building. This tends to require a space similar to that used by current boilers and tank systems. The other type is room based. That is, the unit is designed to service a bathroom or kitchen, but not both. The benefit to this type of water heater is the ability to place them where required and only heat the water when necessary. Visit Ramapowholesalers.com for more information.
