Baking soda is a common household product and can be found in most refrigerators in North America. It can be used for just about anything from a laundry stain-remover to a brightener and air freshener. As it turns out, there is another use for baking soda: making your teeth whiter. Professional teeth whitening in Elk Grove Village is always recommended, at least every six months. In between dental appointments, though, it’s important to keep your teeth as white and healthy as possible. Many dentists recommend baking soda for use at home. Here are some of their tips:

* Use products with baking soda in them: Whitening strips, toothpastes and even mouthwash come in brands with baking soda. Your dentist can recommend a brand that’s right for you if you’re unsure of which one to choose.

* Dip and brush: If you don’t want to buy a product that contains baking soda, you can put a small dish beside your toothbrush and dip your brush in just before you put your toothpaste on. This can have the same whitening effect, and you can control how much you put on your toothbrush.

* Use sparingly: Most dentists agree that baking soda is a great home remedy for whitening teeth; however, some don’t recommend using it every day, because it is a mild abrasive and can affect your enamel over time. Try using it 3-4 times a week. If you buy products with baking soda, buy another brand without and switch them up every other day.

* Don’t use it alone: Baking soda does not have fluoride, so it’s important to use a toothpaste in conjunction with the soda, not in place of it.

With every day oral care and professional teeth whitening in Elk Grove Village sessions, your teeth can be extra white and healthy, no matter how much coffee, tea or red wine you drink. Contact Dr. Brian Homann, DDS at https://www.elkgrovevillageildentist.com for more details.
