Your body will give you some physical signs you’ve been exposed to toxins. Perhaps you feel energy deprived, have bad body odor, some indigestion, foggy thinking or body aches. If this is you, maybe it’s time for an Ayurvedic body cleansing. A full cleanse is best done under the supervision and counsel of a practitioner; however, a simple cleanse can be done at home when you feel your body is signaling it needs a tune-up. Here are a few tips to help you with a simple Ayurvedic body cleansing. These tips are designed for a week, food-based body cleanse.
Kick-start With a Kitchari Diet
Kitchari is a complete meal, easy to make and easy to digest. It is a combination of yellow mung dal, rice, spices, butter and vegetables. Eating only this for one week will let you experience the cleansing effect on your body.
Avoid Snacking
Remove toxins, reset your digestion and lose a few ounces by avoiding snacks. But, if you get hungry do not starve. It warm, cooked foods with kitchari ingredients. Try steamed or stir-fry vegetables, or some rice porridge. Note your digestive system works best when you have food when you feel hungry only.
Hot Water
Sipping hot water helps reset digestion and rid your body of toxins. It is essential to stay well hydrated. Avoid cold drinks, ice and caffeine.
Exercise
Starting daily exercise can really help to mobilize the toxins and helps to flush it out through sweat. It helps for the movement of toxins to the digestive tract and an expulsion from there.
Take Triphala
Triphala will help promote the rejuvenation of body tissues while helping to support healthy bowel function. Take two tablets of Triphala or teaspoon of the powdered form before bedtime.
