When someone wishes to move a tree from one location to another, several precautionary steps need to be taken to ensure the tree remains healthy throughout the process. Doing the move in the wintertime months is best as this is a time when the tree will be dormant. Doing the move after the tree starts to bud can be very harmful as trees often go into shock when moved at this time.

It is best to call a Tree Service in Spokane to do the job of transplanting a tree. They will know how to handle the move properly so the tree has a better chance of survival. They will have the homeowner make a few preparations in advance to help the process go smoothly.

First, a hole will need to be dug in the new location. It should be away from power lines and other trees. This hole needs to be wider than the width of the tree stump and should be dug down several feet so the tree will have ample area for its roots. The hole should be filled with water the day before the tree is to be moved.

The Tree Service in Spokane will dig around the circumference of the tree, carefully trying to keep as much of the root ball intact during the process. They may need to cut larger roots with an ax so the tree will release its grip from the soil. The workers will gently ease the tree out of the ground, lying it on its side. They will saturate pieces of burlap and wrap them around the root ball. The burlap will be secured with heavy-duty twine. This will keep the roots wet until the tree is placed in the hole of water at the new location.

The tree will be transported on the top of a vehicle. The tree will then be placed in the hold of water and the soil that was removed will be placed around the stump to hold the tree in place. Mulch will then be added around the perimeter of the tree to help moisture retention.
