Computers come in all shapes and sizes. The older models used to be big and bulky and came equipped with only a handful of features. However, with the recent advancements in technology, modern computers are not only extremely powerful but also take up a lot less space. In fact, some laptops are more than powerful enough to perform incredibly complex functions and run extremely heavy programs. You can simply fold them and carry them in your backpack if you want. However, there are certain computers that are designed only to perform specific functions.
Industrial computers are generally quite different from ordinary computers, both in terms of appearance and functionality. For instance, a stainless steel panel PC is mainly used in industries for a variety of different purposes. These computers are designed for use in extremely harsh environments, and can withstand a lot of abuse.
What’s Different?
Stainless steel computers are generally enclosed within a stainless steel case and are protected from all sides. Some of the computers are also IP 67 certified, which essentially means that they are waterproof. Most importantly, these computers are not powered by your custom operating system. Instead, the computer can be programmed for use with numerous industrial machines with a customized operating system. A stainless steel panel PC can also be connected to a touch screen monitor or other equipment in order to meet your computing needs.
Most business owners generally look for stronger and sturdier casing solutions for their computers. With a stainless steel PC, you do not need to worry about anything at all. The bezel of the screen is reinforced with stainless steel and cannot be damaged easily. If you opt for a touchscreen panel, the screen also includes additional sensors that allow you to use it with gloves on.
Specifications
The specifications of stainless steel industrial PCs are also quite different. Compared to ordinary computers, these computers are generally quite small. Most of them come up with screen sizes of anywhere between 5.7”-10”. Out-of-the-box specifications are generally pretty standard. Some computers are powered by Intel Atom processors due to their small size, with two GB of RAM.
A lot of the focus lies on long-term support, which is why most industrial computers have additional slots that you can use. If your computing needs increase in the future, all you need to do is switch out the old processor and RAM and put in a new one. These computers are powered by custom motherboards that provide long-term support for newer components. Because they are designed to perform specific functions only, these computers aren’t equipped with HDMI ports and other fancy enhancements.
